Aufenthaltsdatum: September 2024We (Elderly parents + adult daughter) stayed at La Loma for 2 weeks in Sep 2024. Overall it was an enjoyable stay and we had a good time with fantastic weather. Good Points: 1. An attractive villa in a great setting; Stunning views and good walks (mostly on the roads). 2. Good hot water. 3. Traffic on the mountain roads always drove slowly (circa 30 KPH) and were always very friendly. 4. Good walking on the local roads and tracks. Less Good Points 1. NO WiFi !! 2. Swimming Pool looks bigger in the photos that it actually is. In addition NOT child friendly as no shallow end and min depth is approx 1.5m. Also very visable to surrounding area due to its height. 3. No Villa File - General Instructions, Emergency contacts, Supermarkets, Areas of Interest, local recommended restaurants, etc. Check in consisted only of unlocking the doors and photographing passports! No advice on rubbish disposal or recycling rules/requirements. No written Instructions on how to get to the villa; Only a google map 'Pin Drop' Whats App Message. Fortunately our daughter (and now I can) was able to sort this! 4. Furnishings limited - no bedroom chairs; one bedroom with 2 x double beds had no furniture at all apart from the beds; bedsite lights very low powered. Fans noisey. Cutlery limited; No coffee or Tea pots. 5, External/Pool furniture very limited for a villa supposedly accomodating 9 people (in reality 7) and loungers very uncomfortable. Also, the flower pots shown in the photos, are no longer are there! 6. Villa Maintenance needs attention - ensuite sink drainage loose and shower holder insecure; kitchen sink is plumbed the wrong way round. 7. A cleaning charge of Euro 75 added at the payment page, but NO cleaning mid stay, nor change of bed linen and towels mid stay. No Check Out. 8. The owners/local agents lived immediately behind and above the villa. There was a family gathering most nights from 17.00 to 21.00. Summary - A holiday very much in the hills and for peace and quite (except for the very close proximity of the owner/local agent). Fantastic views and good walks, but not really very children friendly. The local (small) village, some 5 kms further down the road has absolutely no shops, or even a bar that we could find. However, the local town, Valez Malaga, has reasonable supermarkets though driving, and parking, in the old town is challenging as it is on a hill. The old Fort is well worth a visit, but put in the nearby carpark into Google Maps to ensure that you are routed around the outside of the town (and not through it) to get there. Also the nearby, local church, 5 min walk from the fort, is also highly recommended for a visit. While we had a very enjoyable and relaxing time at the villa, it is not one that we will re-visit.
