Het huis was schots en scheef. In Nederland zou dit nooit verhuurd mogen worden. Het had daardoor ook wel zijn charmes. Geschilderd in vrolijke kleuren. Deed mij denken aan Mexico. Matrassen waren dun en ongelijke bedden. Wat mij het meeste stoorde was de pieslucht van de paardenstallen. Die was het meest aanwezig in de grote slaapkamer. Ik kon daardoor slecht in slaap vallen.
