Porto-Vecchio is Corsica's third largest city and is perched high above the gulf of the same name. Take a walk at the marina and visit one of the good restaurants or stroll through the old town with its narrow streets, cafes and boutiques. South Corsica is the ideal destination for beach holidaymakers and water sports enthusiasts - one beach after the other is lined up along the coast, from small rocky bays to Palombaggia beach or the bay of Santa Giulia Bay, turquoise blue water, beaches and green pine trees offer a great picture. But hikers also get their money's worth - a trip to the Bavella massif with its sleepy mountain villages and beautiful views is well worth it. At the southern tip of Corsica, the town of Bonifacio is enthroned on the cliffs and in the hinterland there are cork oak and pine forests.
