With 700-720 metres above seal level, Schnett in Thuringia is one of the highest localities of the upper woodlands, where snow is guaranteed. The charming town is located on Mount Simmersberg's southern slope and from its summit you can enjoy the panoramic views over Thuringia and Franconia. At an altitude with a relatively high snow guarantee, one can ski down the slopes without a long wait at the ski lifts. This is a real advantage of the ski areas in the Thuringian Forest, and they are therefore attractive winter sports destinations. Popular excursions: Sea Aquarium Zella Mehlis (25km), Weimar (70km), Erfurt (60km). The Masserberg region offers three ski lift systems in Masserberg, Fehrenbach and Heubach. The extensive net of ski trails, cross-country skiing trails and winter hiking trails as well as a 400-metre long and well-prepared sledging track round off the leisure programs. The Airport is only 60 km away.
