Zahlreiche shops are located in the village Kirchdorf 2 km away. The island of Poel is one of the most beautiful islands in Mecklenburg and lies in the middle of the urban triangle Lübeck-Schwerin-Rostock. It is very easy to reach the Hanseatic city of Wismar via a heaped dam (15 km). At the western tip of Poel is Timmendorf Strand, about a kilometer from the present town, Timmendorf. Timmendorf Beach is Poel's most popular beach and offers with its lighthouse, pilot, small harbor and numerous water sports ideal conditions for a successful holiday in the Baltic Sea. In addition to the extensive meadows, fields, long sandy beaches and gastronomic hotspots, the island of Poel Meet many witnesses of the past. There is an animal park, entertainment and adventure "Wonnemar" with spa and sauna, cinema, theater, port, historic old town.
