Villa Rotschönberg
Description
Located in the foothills of the Ore Mountains between Meissen, Freiberg and Dresden, this one kilometre-long property which houses Villa Rotschönberg lies directly on the riverbank of the Freiberger Mulde and is surrounded by parks and a private forest. The manufacturer's villa recalls a long history: since 1830 it was part of a silver ore smelter, later the residence of a pulp and cardboard paper mill owner. In 1904 all the factory buildings were rebuilt in Art Nouveau style. In 1958 the cardboard factory burned down completely; only the villa could be saved. From 1990 to 2019, the artist TM Rotschönberg reconstructed the building and the entire property using the highest standards in order to make it available to guests. After all, such an attractive and at the same time secluded location is hard to find. From here you can visit Meissen, Dresden (a trip on the paddle steamer to Saxon Switzerland is an unforgettable experience), to the Freiberg Mining Museum or to Augustusburg Castle. The well-marked Mulde bike path from Holzau to Dessau goes right past the property; however, various bike trips of 30 to 60 km in length that start and end at the house can also be planned along field and forest trails. There are bicycles you can borrow. At the same time, hiking trails through a landscape shaped by silver mining, where you can marvel at the many industrial monuments in addition to the pristine natural surroundings, are perfect for the active tourist. But if you don't want to leave the 40,000 m² property at all, you don't have to, because the peaceful and quaint park as well as the river bank are as relaxing as bathing in the clear water of the Mulde is stimulating.
Guests occupy the entire second floor of Villa Rotschönberg, which measures 200 m² and consists of four bedrooms, a living room, a large kitchen and a club room with pool table, electronic organ and library. There is only one bathroom, which is very large, and a guest toilet. All the furniture was designed and made by the artist to match the elegance of this Art Nouveau villa.
If you are looking for accommodation for more than eight people, you can book another floor in the house, which is also available on Chalet.nu.

Date of stay: August 2024We've just spent a wonderful two weeks at Villa Rotschönberg. Fantastic, spacious apartment with four good-sized bedrooms and plenty of living space for our family of six people. A very well-equipped kitchen, a cosy living room and best of all - a pool table! It was our first visit to this part of Germany and the apartment was a great base for exploring the area - Freiberg and Dresden are close by and we also enjoyed daytrips to Pirna and Wittenberg. There's plenty of outdoor space and even a river for paddling / swimming - perfect on hot days. Or if you prefer, you can visit the outdoor swimming baths at Freiberg or nearby Nossen. Our hosts, Tom and Tanja, were very friendly and helpful. We hope to visit again some day!

Date of stay: August 2022Really spacious and neat apartment. The surroundings are lovely (woods, hills, nice villages and towns) and not so many tourists as you will find in other parts of Europe. Tom and Tanja are great hosts and very willing to share ideas and tips for visits.

Date of stay: June 2021 - July 2021Sehr schöne uns außergewöhnliche Ferienwohnung in absoluter Einsamkeit.

Date of stay: July 2020The accommodation is beautifully surrounded by a small forest and the Freiberger Mulde, and is an ideal spot to start a hike, mountain bike ride or city trip. The house itself has been very well constructed by the owner, who as a professional artist has a keen eye for aesthetics and quality. From here you can easily reach multiple POI's such as Freiberg, Meissen, Dresden, Leipzig, Prague and of course the Sächsischen Schweiz. The owner, his wife and his son are very nice, warm and friendly people who will make every effort to make you feel welcome. We will return next year!
