The Lonau waterfall is a wonderful photo motif. Worth seeing for the whole family: the capercaillie display enclosure - the largest in Europe. There is also a ranger station of the Harz National Park, a forest museum, a forest swimming pool with a campsite and a leisure facility for children. At least four hiking destinations can be reached from Lonau, which are included in the system of stamping points of the Harzer hiking pin: the Köte on the Schindelkopf, the Hanskuehnenburg, the Waidmannsruhe refuge and the Große Knollen. One of the most popular destinations is also the Lonau waterfall, a narrow rocky gorge through which the water falls a total of ten meters.
