Description

Pleasant holiday home by the fjord at the foot of Saltfjellet Svartisen National Park and just south of the Arctic Circle. Great place for nature lovers and for mountain hiking in a large wilderness area with the glacier Svartisen and Grønligrotta. Many lakes and rivers for great fishing. The house is in the village of Melfjorden, built in 1980 and renovated over several years. Spacious house, pleasantly furnished with living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and one bedroom on the main floor with a double bed. 2 bedrooms in the basement, both with family bunk beds that are 1.20 m wide downstairs and single bunks upstairs. One also has a double bed. In the living room, there is a wood stove that provides good heat in the house even on cold days. Satellite TV with many international channels and free internet with fiber cable/large capacity. By the house, there is a great outdoor area with a walled-up barbecue in natural stone and outdoor furniture. The surrounding area is quiet and child-friendly on the outskirts of the village. From the terrace, there is a nice view towards the beautiful mountain landscape to the south and the fjord. Here, you can sit and enjoy your morning coffee. The outdoor area by the house provides great play opportunities for children. 1.5 km to the fish-rich fjord, where you can fish with a rod from the cliffs. The mountain area that surrounds the village is steep, but further east there are marked hiking trails that lead into a magnificent wilderness and high mountain area where impressive waterfalls plunge down the mountainside. Svartisen is Norway's second largest glacier with the Austerdalsbreen glacier arm as the southern part and can be experienced by following the road into Svartisdal where a boat enters the glacier. Grønligrotta is the Nordic region's most famous and visited marble cave and is well laid out with lighting, passages and stairs, a great experience for the whole family. In summer and autumn, Melfjord is a great place for picking berries and mushrooms, and the area has great terrain for small game hunting. Good parking space. 48 km to grocery store, 60 km to the town of Rana.
