Description

A true summer idyll in Smedby on Southern Öland where you can enjoy the view that stretches over the fields down towards Kalmar Sound. The beautifully rugged Öland landscape Alvaret spreads out beyond the field behind the house. Here you can enjoy the beautiful house, the large lovely garden, and the delightful paved courtyard. Lilacs, red- and blackcurrant bushes, plum and apple trees grow here, all surrounded by a beautiful stone wall. The house is beautifully decorated with nice details. You have a kitchen with a cozy corner where it's tempting to sit back with a book or a good cup of tea. The dining room is bright and pleasant, where you can socialize and enjoy a good meal. You have a bright living room with a sofa. There are beautiful fireplaces in the house that are not functional. Upstairs there are two nice bedrooms. One with a double bed, the other with two single beds. There is also a sitting room where you can relax in the armchair and enjoy the wonderful view over Kalmar Sound and the fields through the beautiful window. Note that there is no railing from this room down to the stairs, which means that the house is not suitable for very young children without parental supervision. The newly renovated bathroom has a toilet, sink, shower, and washing machine. You have a charming guest cottage with a sedum roof, where you can sleep well in two beds. You also have access to a part of the beautiful stone outbuilding, where there is a freezer box, etc. In Smedby, there is Café Prästgården with coffee, food, and music events. You can enjoy lovely swimming at Västerstad beach closest to the sea. Eckels udde is nearby with its seal population and bird watching. Sandviks stone beach is also close by. There are also beautiful beaches such as Bläsinge and Bjärby on the western side. In Southern Möckleby, there is a grocery store, gas station, pizzeria, and second-hand stores open during the summer. In Mörbylånga, there is a larger selection of amenities and a beach. Grönhögen's golf course is 17km away. You have 21km to the southern tip of Öland, Ottenby, with the lighthouse Långe Jan, bird observatory, restaurant, and Nature Center. Eketorp Castle is Sweden's only reconstructed ancient fortress with buildings from both the Iron Age and the Middle Ages. It is beautifully located in the middle of Öland's World Heritage right next to the hiking trail Mörbylångaleden. There is also a café here. Grönhögen's limestone quarry is the island's most exciting beach where you can take a refreshing dip in the clear water.
