Tips Owner:
1) The last part of the way to the house is a rough macadam road. It is passable for cars most of the time. Unfortunatelly, during wintertime, occasionaly due to snowy or extremely icy weather, the road could be unusable for cars. In that case my guests leave their cars at the small parking place in Kupa village. There is about 1,5 km to the house (30 minutes) by foot. 2) A bit further on my property, close to the house I keep few beehives.

...Read more Usually my guests never even note the presence of bees there. But occasionaly, during sunny springtime afternoons, when some forest trees produce nectar, bees could make trouble buzzing around the house. The river, forest and meadows are full of wildlife, some beautiful but even some unpleasant insects, very rare snakes - so, responsible behavior, appropriate footwear and clothing are required. 3) The house is insulated, in the almost abadoned small village surrounded by forest. The place is suitable for nature lovers, sportsmen, fly-fishermens and quiet families. Guests who need real civilisation could be dissapointed. Mobile and GPS signals are very week. 4) The town of Rijeka is in about 1 hour by car from the house. There you can feel mediteranean heat as well the croatian urban ambience and crowd. You can enjoy the adriatic coast (-> Opatija, very nice old coastal touristic small city near Rijeka, or the small town of Crikvenica with it's beautiful sandy beach). Doluš's nights are fresh and pleasant during summer as your accomodation is placed in the mountain part of Croatia. Spending your day on the mediteranean coast you can meet another, hotter and very different face of Croatia. 5) The river Kupa is about 70 meters from the house. Daily fishing ticket can be bought in the cafés in Brod na Kupi. The ticket covers waters of Kupa river, Kupica and Curak and upper course of the Dobra river (all within small distance from your accomodation). Fish can be caught only by using fly fishing angling method. All other methods and boats are forbidden. Due waters of Kupica and Curak, and some parts of the Kupa river are partly protected phenomena of nature, there is a "catch and release" regimen valid for some fish specimen. In the nearby city of Brod na Kupi, there is a „Goran“ -Sport Fishing Association, they're open for your questions. Unfortunatelly, they have no renting possibility so you'll have to bring your own fishing equipment. The society has a small fish-farm. There you can buy affordable but really beautiful fresh and cleaned fish for your barbecue. 6) During your stay in Doluš, you can spend your time walking and exploring neighboring mostly abandoned villages surrounded by forest. Macadam pathway in Doluš, as well other county roads all along the Kupa river valley are great for cycling. It is possible to rent a boat/kayak or participate in organised rafting adventures starting at Brod na Kupi. Kupa river is shallow but suitable for kayak and swimming, it is clean and great for your summer refreshment. In Brod na Kupi you can visit the Museum of Gorski kotar area, in order to explore local history, forestry, hunting and fishing tradition. There is also a restaurant. Few kilometers further there is another restaurant placed in the outing site and protected area of nature "Zeleni Vir / Vrajži Prolaz" (12 km from the house). There are very interesting and exciting walking paths, arranged along the water courses, as well hiking trails and small bridges in the narrow canyon of the Curak streamlet. You can visit protected forest park and picnic area of Golubinjak forest near Lokve (25 km from the house). Beautifully aranged mild hiking paths of Golubinjak will lead you through centuries-old coniferous forest, exploring magnificent karst phenomena and small caves. In the Golubinjak outing site area there is also a nice restaurant that offers local meals. Near Lokve you can refresh yourself in the lake Omladinsko, or visit small but extraordinary beautiful Lokvarka cave. National park Risnjak entrance is about 30 km from the house, with it's interesting 4 km long, easy and educative footpath "Leska“. The peak of Risnjak mountain you can reach in about 40 minutes by car and 1,5 hour hiking. The Kupa river source is also within the area of Risnjak National Park. You can visit it from the small village of Razloge. The Petehovac protected landscape with it's mountain resort in Delnice is in about 20km from the house. There you can enjoy beautiful panorama of Delnice city, extraordinary good and clean fresh air, as well a very nice restaurant with good food. Protected landscape of Kamačnik canyon is within the distance of 35 km from the house. 7) Local events: Delnice 20. - 25.6.2015. - Delnice's day celebrations (contests, pop - concerts, etc.) Kocjani 29.6.2015. - local St. Peter's and St. Paul's day celebration (mass in the archaic, very interesting church, cakes by local women)hide
