Battenhausen, a district of Haina-Kloster, is known for the Haina Monastery, which is famous for the painter Johann Heinrich Tischbein, Goethe's best friend. Tischbein painted Goethe in Tuscany between 1751 and 1829, and the picture shows Goethe sitting with a large hat. This painting is extremely well known and hardly affordable. Incidentally, Goethe's small brown and white half-timbered birthplaace hangs in the K.
